Long-term view create success
Some companies succeed in what many dont.
If you look more closely at companies such as Nibe, IKEA, Atlas Copco and Nederman, you will find all of them have a long-term aproach.
Gryhyttan, Sifvert etc. are good examples of smaller companies acting long-term.
These companies have nothing in common in terms of product’s, but if you study their approach, some commonalities emerge. They consistently focus on their core businesses, are adaptable when needed and above all, they work and act long-term. Real success mostly requires a long-term perspective.
The long-term approach makes it possible for processes, products, and services to be optimized. As result they become so good and efficient that customers have no reason to change suppliers, and that the ability and cost-effectiveness is so high that competitors neither have the ability nor the means to catch up.
The last few decades have largely been about the opposite, namely short-termism, a focus on profitability in the current fiscal year or even quarter. This short time horizon almost invariably means that the opportunity to develop the organization’s competence and excellent customer offer disappears, slowly being deprived of it’s competitivenes strenght.
